A Homely Couple’s Journey to Home Ownership
Q&A with Brian and Kasia
At Homely, we aim to make the dream of owning a home a reality for individuals and families who struggle with traditional mortgage options. With our helping hand, Brian and Kasia were recently able to move into their new 4-bed home in Naas. We caught up with them to hear about their journey and how the programme helped them transition from traditional renting to the path to owning.
Homely: Brian and Kasia, thank you for speaking with us! Firstly, what led you to Homely and how did you find out about us and our rent-to-own model?
Brian: It’s a real relief to know that the money we’re paying each month is helping us get ready for ownership. We’ve also been able to make some personal adjustments, like installing safety netting out back for the cats and we’re planning to put security gates on the front of the home. Since we know we’ll be here for the long haul, it feels great to be able to personalise things. Hanging pictures and painting the rooms in our preferred colours make it feel like we’re truly making this house our home—just like we would if we owned it outright.

Homely: It sounds like the home is a perfect fit! How do you feel about the financial side of things?
Brian: The financial side is where Homely really makes sense for us. Before, paying rent felt like money down the drain for a home that, frankly, was falling apart due to landlord neglect. With Homely, part of what we pay every month is building up a discount toward the eventual purchase price, so it feels more real. Plus, the flexibility to buy after a few years or extend the agreement gives us time to sort out mortgage approval while still moving forward with owning a home. The rent-to-own model has really allowed us to manage costs in a way that works for us, and plan for our future.
Kasia: The affordability has been a game-changer for us. Without needing a huge deposit upfront, we’re able to manage the payments and feel secure about eventually buying the house.
Homely has been a perfect solution for us, and the rent-to-own model is such a great way to eventually own a home.
Homely: What advice would you give to someone considering the Homely rent-to-own model?
Brian: If you’re self-employed like us or have struggled with the traditional mortgage process for any other reason, I’d say Homely is a fantastic option. It gives you time to build up your finances while living in a place you love. The whole process has been smooth and stress-free, and you don’t have to feel like you’re stuck renting forever.
Kasia: I agree. Homely has been a perfect solution for us, and the rent-to-own model is such a great way to eventually own a home. We’re thrilled with how everything has worked out and would definitely recommend it to anyone in a similar situation.
Homely: Thanks so much, Brian and Kasia. We’re so happy you’ve had such a positive experience with Homely!
Brian and Kasia: Thank you! We’re delighted with everything and excited about our future here.
